The remains of the Roman Villa of Rio Verde date back to the late 1st century/early 2nd century AD. Not much of the villa itself remains bar some low walls and the floor, but it is the floor people come to see. The floors are beautiful mosaic floors, many of which are well preserved. The mosaic designs are quite unique with patterns not seen before. The site is open to visitors on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm. The mosaics can also be viewed from the surrounding fence during daylight hours if you miss the opening times.
